On September 17, 2007 Africa Pearls spokesmodel Tammie Garr of Liberia departs from the USA to China to compete in the largest model search of the world, Model Look International 2007. Tammie will stay in China for two week for the competition. Tammie's stay in China is all expenses paid for the entire duration of her stay which includes: Round-trip airfare, hotel accommodation, competition wardrobe, and food.

New Silk Road Model Look

Each year, NSR play host to two major modeling contests in China . In its 14th year running, New Silk Road Model Look China is the largest, most prestigious model search of its kind in China , selecting new male and female faces that are ready to take on the model industry by storm. Thousands of hopeful models sign up each year at regional events held all over the country. Winners from each of China 's regional events compete in the national final. This 8-day event is a career-building experience for aspiring models as contestants develop trade skills from industry professionals.

For the fourth consecutive year, New Silk Road Model Look International , the only one of its kind in China , has been seeking to create an international network of agencies and models from around the world, creating agencies and models with the opportunities to explore the Asian market. In 2005, New Silk Road Model Look International was held in the beautiful city of Wuxi , also nicknamed as “Little Shanghai”. The contest featured 57 contestants from over 40 different countries. The extravaganza captured an audience of over 200 million viewers, and was covered by 52 publications and 16 television stations.

In 2003, New Silk Road Company helped organize the Miss World contest in Sanya , China , with phenomenal success. Due to its success, Miss World contest has returned to Sanya in 2004 and 2005.

Media Coverage in China  

As an icon in China 's fashion industry, NSR attracts enormous media attention with each of their events.  During both the New Silk Road Model Look China and International's 2-week event period, over 200 television stations, newspapers, radio stations, magazines and websites reported the events.  The events were covered in many forms such as interviews, commentaries, live broadcasts, advertisements or as news items.  Last year, the contests captured an amazing 340 million viewers worldwide.
